Lonely, but Never Alone $2.80

Nicky Cruz Story

Have you ever been lonely? Have you ever been blue?

You may remember the words of this plaintive song and you may be able to identify with them. One of the greatest problems facing non-Christians and Christians alike today is that of loneliness. We may have the tendency to feel that loneliness is unique to our experience but the problem is worldwide.

Nicky Cruz knows all about being lonely. His own bitter trauma began at an early age, when, as one of seventeen children, he felt his mother and father didn't love him. He ran away from home at the age of nine, but returned because he was more lonely away from home than in it. At sixteen he left his home in Puerto Rico for New York City and for the next three years wandered the streets and became active in the Mau Maus - a notorious street gang. He plummeted from being a rebellious teenager to becoming a violent, hardened street-gang leader.

Then he found the Lord - and he knew Someone loved him. He still gets lonely, especially when he's away from home on his speaking tours, but now he has the Lord as his Friend. Because of circumstances or situations in life Christians can feel lonely, but we can always take comfort in the fact that Jesus has promised never to leave us or forsake us. He has given us the joy of His companionship, the light of His word, the communion of prayer, and the sweet fellowship of His body. Lonely? Maybe. But never alone!
