Jupiter Inlet Light $79.00

Located near the mouth of the Loxahatchee River, north of Palm Beach, and south of Hobe Sound, this 115 foot high tower with its first-order Fresnel lens was lit in 1860.

Hostile Indians, disease carrying mosquitoes, Civil War, and a host of dramas plagued the construction and maintaining of this light. Open to the public, the Jupiter Inlet Light has a romantic, as well as adventurous history.
After the Civil War, Captain James Armour restored the lens that had been hidden during the war, and remained the light keeper for 40 years. When Capt. Armour?s wife joined him in 1867, she was the only white woman within 100 miles.
The Burt Reynolds Playhouse is nearby, Perry Como lived in neighboring Juno Beach, and finance legend John D. McArthur lived a short stroll away.
