Located south of Palm Beach, between Pompano Beach and Boca Raton, this skeletal, black and white lighthouse, was first lit in 1907.

Standing 136 above sea level, its 5.5 million candlepower light can be seen 25 miles off shore. In years past, this lighthouse has witnessed rum and drug smugglers, many hurricanes, and German submarines.

Today, an armada of luxury yachts, sport-fishing boats, and private sailing craft use this waterway. Hillsboro Inlet can be a tricky inlet to maneuver when tides, currents, and water traffic are busy.

The Coast Guard operates this light and it is not open to the public. On the south side of the inlet are fabulous multi-million dollar homes.
